An oligolectic species, specialising in Fabaceae (Westrich, 1989; Pesenko in Banaszak, 1995). The following species are cited as pollen sources: Lotus corniculatus, Vicia cracca, Lathyrus tuberosus, Trifolium repens (Fabaceae).
Vereecken, Risch & Cortis (2007) report that the medium-flowered and early flowering Ophrys scolopax (Orchidaceae) is pollinated by patrolling males of this species which pseudocopulate with the labellum of the flower.
