Osmia (Hoplosmia) ligurica (MORAWITZ, 1868)

Oligolectic on Asteraceae with a preference for Asteroideae; species of the Cichorioideae and Carduoideae are exploited as well (Amiet et al., 2004; A. Müller, unpublished, based on 49 pollen samples from 34 different localities and on field observations). Müller (2018) in a further study (based on 50 pollen loads from 43 different localities from across the distribution range and on field observations) shows that among the Asteraceae, this species only exploits the flowers of Asteroideae and Cichorioideae with a preference for the former subfamily. 36 pollen loads contained pure Asteroideae pollen and four pure Cichorioideae pollen, while seven were mixed loads consisting of the pollen of both subfamilies. Three pollen loads contained small amounts of Brassicaceae, Campanulaceae or Resedaceae pollen beside Asteroideae pollen, suggesting that the females very rarely also exploit pollen hosts other than the Asteraceae.

Mavromoustakis (1948; 1951; 1952; 1953) reports visitation to Achillea santolina, Anthemis arvensis and Calendula persica (Asteraceae) in Cyprus

Müller (2018) also lists the following visitation data: Hieracium bauhinii (Tkalců 1994); Achillea sp., Anthemis tinctoria, Buphthalmum salicifolium, Calendula arvensis, Crepis aculeata, Glebionis coronaria, Hypochaeris achyrophorus, Inula sp., Leontodon sp., Pallenis spinosa, Pulicaria dysenterica, Reichardia picroides (Asteraceae).
