Müller (1996) states the species is oligolectic on Dipsacaceae and lists Scabiosa triandra (Dipsacaceae) as a pollen source in Switzerland .
Banaszak & Romasenko (1998) and Stanisavljević (2000), however, list the following plants as forage sources: Picris, Xeranthemum (Asteraceae); Linum (Linaceae); Scabiosa (Dipsacaceae); Jasione (Campanulaceae).
Pollen analysis (Müller, 1996) revealed the following pollen sources: Dipsacaceae and traces of Cistaceae and Asteraceae.
Literature records (summarised in Kasparek, 2017) may suggest the story is more complex, and records are found for Picris, Xeranthemum, Centaurea solstitialis, Cirsium spp., Onopordum sp., Carduus olympicus ssp. hypoleucus (Asteraceae); Linum (Linaceae); Scabiosa, Pterocephalus plumosus, Scabiosa atropurpurea ssp. maritima, Scabiosa reuteriana (Dipsacaceae); Jasione (Campanulaceae); Echium (Boraginaceae); Astragalus resupinatus (Fabaceae); Cephalaria alpina (Caprifoliaceae) and Vitex agnus-castus (Lamiaceae)
