Polylectic: collecting pollen from Ranunculus bulbosus (Ranunculaceae); Sinapis (Brassicaceae); Acer pseudoplatanus, A. campestre (Aceraceae); Ilex aquifolium (Aquifoliaceae); Rubus idaeus, Rosa, Prunus spinosa, Crataegus monogyna, Pyrus (Rosaceae); Chaerophyllum temulentum, Aegopodium podagraria, Heracleum sphondylium (Apiaceae); Bryonia dioica (Cucurbitaceae); Betula (Betulaceae); Quercus (Fagaceae); Salix (Salicaceae) and Taraxacum (Asteraceae)(Chambers, 1968).
The species is a significantly important pollinator of apples (Malus) (Rosaceae)(Chambers, 1946; Chansigaud, 1975).
In Finland, the species shows a preference for the pollen of Rubus idaeus (Rosaceae); Acer (Aceraceae) and Ribes (Grossulariaceae)(Söderman & Leinonen, 2003).
Tomozei (2014), citing others, states that females of the first brood visit flowers of Crataegus, Prunus spinosa, Pyrus communis (Rosaceae) and Glechoma hederacea (Lamiaceae), while the second generation visits Cornus sanguinea (Cornaceae). In Finland, females were recorded on flowers of 22 plant species. In Poland, the females were recorded on 22 species from 10 plant families.
