Oligolectic: In Germany this species is oligolectic on Apiaceae (Westrich & Schmidt, 1987; Westrich, 1989).
Dylewska (1987) lists the following forage sources: Chaerophyllum temulum, Anthriscus sylvestris (Apiaceae); Stellaria holostea (Caryophyllaceae); Taraxacum officinale, Bellis perennis (Asteraceae); Myosotis sp. (Boraginaceae).Pollen is obtained from umbellifers (Westrich & Schmidt 1987; Westrich 1989).
British flower visiting records are for Anthriscus sylvestris, Chaerophyllum temulentum, Smyrnium olusatrum, Oenanthe and Heracleum sphondylium (Apiaceae). Other records include Euphorbia (Euphorbiaceae) Bryonia (Cucurbitaceae) and males on Crataegus (Rosaceae) and Rhododendron (Ericaceae) although these may represent nectar sources only (Falk, 1991)
Tomozei (2001-2) reports visitation to Sinapis arvensis (Brassicaceae)
Radchenko (2015), citing others, states that it will forage at flowers of Apiaceae from which it gathers pollen and nectar (Friese 1926, Kocourek 1966, Warncke 1966a, 1981, Osytschnjuk 1977, Howe 2002). It also visits flowers of Asteraceae, Brassicaceae, Campanulaceae and Euphorbiaceae, but only rarely.
