A polylectic species, but showing a marked preference for Fabaceae (Stanisavljević, 2000; Ivanov et al., 2005)
Data from observations and specimen labels show this species will visit a wide range of forage plants: Ferula communis (Apiaceae); Anthemis arvensis, Centaurea cyanus, Crepis commutata (Asteraceae); Campanula drabifolia ssp. drabifolia (Campanulaceae); Cistus creticus (Cistaceae); Anthyllis hermanniae, Cercis siliquastrum, Dorycnium hirsutum, Hippocrepis biflora, Hymenocarpus circinnatus, Medicago lupulina, Onobrychis caput-galli, Ononis ornithopodioides, Trifolium boisseri, Trifolium angustifolium, Trifolium nigrescens, Trifolium repens, Trifolium repens ssp. orphanideum, Trifolium scabrum, Trifolium stellatum, Trifolium uniflorum (Fabaceae); Lavandula stoechas, Salvia verbenaca (Lamiaceae); Sisymbrium orientale (Brassicaceae); Allium subhirsutum, Asphodelus ramosus, Gagea graeca, Muscari commutatum (Liliaceae).
Additional pollen sources include Lamiaceae, Echium (Boraginaceae), Brassicaceae, Cistaceae, Crassulaceae, Campanulaceae and Asteraceae (Asteroideae, Cichorioideae) (Amiet et al., 2004; Westrich, 1989; A. Müller, unpublished, based on 44 pollen samples from 37 different localities).
