Oligolectic: Bryonia (Cucurbitaceae) (Monolectic by default in UK). British males also visit the main host plant. Specimens have also been collected from Rubus (Rosaceae) flowers, and it is probable that this species is utilised only as a nectar source. Further probable nectar sources on the Continent include Rubus idaeus, Crataegus (Rosaceae) Oenanthe (Apiaceae) Echium vulgare (Boraginaceae) and Hieracium (Asteraceae)(Dylewska, 1987).
In continental Europe it is oligolectic, foraging from this species and Bryonia alba (Westrich, 1989), and Bryonia cretica (Cucurbitaceae) in Crete (pers. obs.).
In Andalucia (Spain), males were found nectaring at flowers of Ecballium elaterium (Cucurbitaceae) (pers. obs.)
Tomozei (2014) citing others, states that it visits Bryonia alba and Bryonia dioica (Cucurbitaceae). Males have been found on Hieracium (Asteraceae); Echium vulgare (Boraginaceae) and Rubus, Crataegus oxyacantha (Rosaceae) (Dylewska 1987, Else 2001).
