Andrena (Melanapis) fuscosa Erichson, 1835

A polylectic species.

The spring brood seems to fly uniquely to yellow-flowerd Brassicaceae. The summer generation will visit Eryngium campestre (Apiaceae); Euphorbia sp. (Euphorbiaceae); Solidago canadensis, Centaurea sp., Xeranthemum annuum (Asteraceae); Sisymbrium sp., Eruca sativa (Brassicaceae).(Dylewska, 1987)

Tomozei (2014) citing others states that the females collect pollen from various families, preferring Brassicaceae and Apiaceae, but also Euphorbiaceae, Fabaceae and Valerianaceae (Kocourek 1966, Osytshnjuk et al. 2008).

Mavromoustakis (1951; 1952; 1954) lists visitation of early-flying females to Sinapis alba and other Brassicaceae. June specimens are noted at Cardopatium corymbosum, Centaurea hyalolepis(Asteraceae).
