Andrena (Cnemiandrena) denticulata (KIRBY, 1802)

Polylectic with a strong preference for yellow-flowered Asteraceae. Chambers (1968) records the following as forage species: Chamaenerion angustifolium (Onagraceae); Heracleum sphondylium (Apiaceae); Filipendula ulmaria (Rosaceae); Cirsium, Centaurea, Hieracium, Leucanthemum maximum, Senecio jacobaea (Asteraceae)

In Germany the species is considered to be oligolectic on Asteraceae (Westrich, 1989). Pesenko in Banaszak (1995) also states that this is an oligolectic species, specialising in Asteraceae

In Finland the species is also oligolectic on Asteraceae, with flower records from Leontodon autumnalis, Hieracium umbellatum, Solidago virgaurea and S. canadensis (Asteraceae)(Söderman & Leinonen, 2003). Pekkarinen (1998) lists plants in the following genera of Asteraceae as pollen sources: Achillea, Aster, Bidens, Calendula, Centaurea, Cichorium, Cirsium, Erigeron, Hieracium, Hypochoeris, Inula, Leontodon, Solidago, Sonchus, Tanacetum and Tripleurospermum.

Tomozei (2014) citing others states that females forage especially on Asteraceae (Solidago virgaurea, Solidago canadensis, Senecio jacobaea, Achillea millefolium, Hypochoeris radicata, Tanacetum vulgare, Cichorium intybus, Leontodon, Centaurea jacea, Hieracium pilosella and Senecio species). In Finland, the species was reported on 26 different species of plants (Osytshnjuk 1977, Dylewska 1987).
Tomozei also lists Heracleum sphondylium (Apiaceae).
