Xylocopa (Xylocopa) violacea (Linnaeus, 1758)

Polylectic: Xylocopa violacea forages principally at Fabaceae and Lamiaceae flowers, with a marked preference for the genera Lavandula, Salvia (Lamiaceae) and Lathyrus and Wisteria (Fabaceae) (M. Terzo).

Mavromoustakis (1948; 1952) reports visitation to Myrtus communis (Myrtaceae); Amygdalus communis (Rosaceae); Vicia sp., Astragalus lusitanicus (Fabaceae); Thymelea hirsuta (Thymeleaceae); Asphodelus ramosus microcarpus (Asphodelaceae) in Cyprus
