Anthophora (Pyganthophora) retusa (Linnaeus, 1758)

Probably polylectic: British pollen sources not known.

In Germany it is polylectic, foraging from plants in the families Brassicaceae and Lamiaceae (Westrich, 1989). In the Netherlands (Peeters, Raemakers & Smit, 1999) also state that it is polylectic.

Pawlikowski & Kruszynski (1997) list Salvia pratensis (Lamiaceae) as a forage source in Poland.

Paulus (2006) states that this species is the pollinator of the sexually deceptive orchid Ophrys biscutella (Orchidaceae).
