Polylectic: In Germany the species is polylectic, foraging from certain species in the plant families Asteraceae, Brassicaceae, Rosaceae and Salicaceae (Westrich, 1989).
On account of its abundance in central Europe, Kocourek (1966) considers this bee to be a significant pollinator of apple and cherry blossom (Rosaceae).
Dylewska reports the following forage plants: Salix sp. (Salicaceae); Taraxacum officinale, Tussilago farfara (Asteraceae); Potentilla verna (Rosaceae); Geranium sp. (Geraniaceae); Lamium sp. (Lamiaceae).
Tomozei (2014), citing others, states that the visits flowers of Taraxacum, Tussilago, Bellis (Asteraceae); Lepidium, Capsella, Brassica, Sysimbrium (Brassicaceae); Geranium (Geraniaceae); Lamium (Lamiaceae); Malus, Potentilla verna, Ribes, Prunus, Crataegus (Rosaceae) and Salix (Salicaceae). It is considered to be an important pollinator of apple crops in central Europe (Osytshnjuk 1977, Dylewska 1987).
