Polylectic. In the USA the species collects nectar and pollen from a variety of plants including Koelreuteria paniculata (Sapindaceae); Ligustrum lucidum (Oleaceae), and Vitex (Lamiaceae).
Nests from southern France were provisioned with pollen of Styphnolobium japonicum (Fabaceae)(Gihr & Westrich 2013).
Quaranta et al. (2014) analysed the pollen content of one brood cell and found Ligustrum (Oleaceae) as the most abundant pollen, followed by Castanea (Fagaceae). In Menton (France) U. von Haldenwang (pers. comm.) observed females collecting pollen from flowers of Firmiana simplex (Malvaceae).
