Bombus (Megabombus) ruderatus (FABRICIUS, 1775)

Probably polylectic, but pollen sources unknown. Visits , Vicia faba (Fabaceae); Echium (Boraginaceae); Lamium album (Lamiaceae); Aster, Anthemis nobilis, Carduus nutans, Cirsium palustre (Asteraceae).

Rasmont (1988) lists the following forage species: Ranunculaceae; Papaver sp. (Papaveraceae); Prunus dulcis (Rosaceae); Vicia sp., Vicia cracca, Vicia pannonica striata, Vicia sativa, Vicia narbonensis, Vicia faba, Trifolium pratense, Lotus corniculatus, Tetragonolobus maritimus (Fabaceae); Tilia cordata (Tiliaceae); Daucus carota (Apiaceae); Primula elatior (Primulaceae); Jasminum fruticans (Oleaceae); Cerinthe major, Echium sp., Echium vulgare, Symphytum officinale, Anchusa azurea, Borago officinalis (Boraginaceae); Lamium maculatum, Lamium album, Ballota nigra, Stachys sp, Glechoma hederacea, Lavandula sp., Salvia officinalis (Lamiaceae); Knautia arvensis (Dipsacaceae); Helianthus annuus, Taraxacum sp. (Asteraceae): Gladiolus sp. (Liliaceae); Orchis laxiflora (Orchidaceae).

In Spain, Ornosa & Ortiz-Sánchez (2004) list the following plant families as providing forage: Fabaceae, Rosaceae, Scrophulariaceae, Lamiaceae, Ranunculaceae, Boraginaceae, Papaveraceae, Oleaceae, Apiaceae and Liliaceae.

On Madeira island the species is reported to visit Brassica sp. (Brassicaceae); Hibiscus rosa-sinensis (Malvacae), Borago officinalis, Echium candicans, Echium plantagineum (Boraginaceae); Psoralea bituminosa (Fabaceae); Tropaeolum majus (Tropaeolaceae) Opuntia tuna (Cactaceae); Bougainvillea (Nyctaginaceae), Agapanthus praecox (Liliaceae)(Fellendorf et al., 1999).

In the Azores it ivisits a wide range of species, including exotic invaders like Lantana camara, (Verbenaceae)(Weissmann et al , 2017)
