Polylectic: In Britain, but the full range of pollen sources is not known although D.B. Baker (pers. comm.) has observed it collecting pollen from Cytisus, Ononis and Lotus (Fabaceae) (Else & Edwards, 2018)
Flowers visited in UK: Ononis, Lotus corniculatus, Lotus uliginosus, Onobrychis viciifolia, Vicia sylvatica (Fabaceae); Erica sicula (Ericaceae); Rubus laciniatus (Rosaceae); Linaria repens (Scrophulariaceae); and Campanula (Campanulaceae). In gardens it is partial to Campanulaceae flowers and cultivated Asteraceae.
Polylectic in Germany, foraging from Cirsium vulgare (Asteraceae); Campanula rotundifolia, Campanula persicifolia, Campanula trachelium, Campanula medium, Campanula isophylla, Campanula poscharskyana (Campanulaceae); Sedum reflexum (Crassulaceae); Lotus corniculatus, Ononis spinosa, Ononis repens, Genista tinctoria, Lathyrus tuberosus, Lathyrus pratensis, Lathyrus latifolius, Trifolium repens (Fabaceae) and Chamerion angustifolium(Onagraceae)(Westrich, 1989).
Banaszak & Romasenko (1998), copied by Stanisavljević (2000), state that whilst being polylectic, the species shows a marked preference for polen of Asteraceae and Fabaceae, list ing the following genera as forage sources: Carduus, Cirsium, Centaurea, Onopordon, Tragopogon (Asteraceae); Lotus, Trifoliu, Genista, Lathyrus, Lupinus (Fabaceae).
Janssons (2003) lists Campanula (Campanulaceae) as a forage source in Belgium
