A polylectic species although pollen sources not recorded in Britain. On the continent females forage from species in the families Asteraceae, Scrophulariaceae, Boraginaceae, Dipsacaceae, Fabaceae and Plantaginaceae (Pesenko, 1971; Westrich, 1989).
Flowers visited in GB (Else & Edwards, 2018): Genista tinctoria, Lotus corniculatus, Lathyrus pratensis (Fabaceae); Potentilla (Rosaceae); Campanula (Campanulaceae); Cirsium vulgare, C. palustre and Centaurea nigra (Asteraceae).
Banaszak & Romasenko (1998), copied by Stanisavljević (2000), state that the species prefers Asteraceae and Fabaceae (a view supported by Ivanov et al, 2005) lisiting the genera: Leontodon, Crepis, Centaurea, Picris, Hieracium, Aster, Cichorium, Cirsium, Lotus, Genista, Trifolium, Lathyrus, Medicago.
