Oligolectic on Asteraceae with a preference for Carduoideae (Amiet et al., 2004; A. Müller, unpublished, based on 6 pollen samples from 2 different localities and on field observations)
Müller (2018), in a further study sampled 26 pollen loads from 18 different localities from both Europe and the Maghreb. All 26 pollen loads exclusively consisted of pollen of Carduoideae (Centaurea and/or thistles)(Asteraceae).
Müller (2018) also lists the following visitation data: Carduus nutans, Centaurea algeriensis, Centaurea calcitrapa, Centaurea jacea, Centaurea paniculata, Centaurea solstitialis, Centaurea sphaerocephala, Onopordum illyricum (Asteraceae).
