Megachile (Eutricharaea) leachella Curtis, 1828

A polylectic species: females forage from species in the families Fabaceae, Lamiaceae and Crassulaceae (Westrich, 1989; Else & Edwards, 2018).

Flower records from UK are outlined by Else & Edwards (2018): Geranium sylvaticum (Geraniaceae), Ononis, Trifolium arvense, Trifolium repens, Lotus corniculatus, Lotus uliginosus (Fabaceae) Rubus, Potentilla reptans (Rosaceae); Sedum anglicum (Crassulaceae); Eryngium, Cicuta, Daucus (Apiaceae); Bryonia dioica (Cucurbitaceae); Anagallis tenella (Primulaceae); Echium vulgare (Boraginaceae); Thymus serpyllum, Teucrium (Lamiaceae); Jasione (Campanulaceae); Senecio, Cnicus arvensis, Crepis (Asteraceae); Scilla (Liliaceae) and Himantoglossum hircinum (Orchidaceae). In overcast conditions males have been found sheltering within the deep, trumpet-shaped blooms of Calystegia soldanella and perched upon yellow Asteraceae flowers.

In Hungary it is an important pollinator of Medicago sativa (Fabaceae) (Móczár, 1959) whilst in the former U.S.S.R. it is valued for its pollination of Helianthus annuus (Asteraceae) and other crops (Pesenko, 1971).

Banaszak & Romasenko (1989), copied by Stanisavljević (2000), list Genista, Lotus, Vicia, Cytisus, Onobrychis, Medicago, Amorpha, Trifolium and Ononis (Fabaceae) as forage sources and Ivanov et al (2005) state that the species has a preference for Fabaceae.

Vereecken (in litt., 2007) reports males nectaring on Cakile maritimum (Brassicaceae) and Eryngium maritimum (Apiaceae).

Fateryga (2017) reports visitation to Glycyrrhiza glabra (Fabaceae) in the Krasnodar region of the North Caucasus (Russia)
