According to Pesenko in Banaszak, (1995) and Scheuchl (1996), this species is oligolectic on Dipsacaceae. This is confirmation of observations made by Warncke (1973) and Erlandsson (1960) who comments that D. suripes polliniates Knautia arvensis (Dipsacaceae) in both Austria and Sweden.
Monsevicius (2004) also cites Knautia arvensis (Dipsacaceae) as a forage source in Lithuania
Celary (2005) states that D. suripes (as D. aurata) is probably a monolectic species, and is associated with Knautia arvensis (Dipsacaceae)
