Oligolectic, using a variety of plants in the family Asteraceae with a distinct preference for Carduoideae (Amiet et al., 2004; Westrich, 1989; A. Müller, unpublished, based on 43 pollen samples from 29 different localities; Ivanov et al., 2005).
Banaszak & Romasenko (1989), copied by Stanisavljević (2000), list the genera Carduus, Hieracium, Centaurea, Cirsium, Onopordon, Taraxacum, Achillea and Leontodon (Asteraceae) as forage sources.
Fellendorf et al (1999) note that the speces was common at Galactites tomentosa (Asteraceae) flowers in Madeira.
Scheuchl and Willner (2016) state that the species has a strong preference for thistles and relatives(Asteraceae; Cuardueae) but no foraging observations from the Azores available (Weissmann et al, 2017).
Mavromoustakis (1948) reports visitation (As Osmia fulviventris var. albiscopa) to unspecified Asteraceae in Cyprus.
