A polylectic species. Müller & Kuhlmann (2008) list the following pollen sources: Asteroidea (Asteraceae), Resedaceae, Cistaceae, Fabaceae, Eucalyptus (Myrtaceae), Ericaceae, Cichorioidea (Asteraceae), Lauraceae, Carduoidaea (Asteraceae) based on 14 pollen samples from 10 different localities.
In Cyprus, in the Autumn, it is a regular visitor to Dittrichia (=Inula) viscosa (Asteraceae) and Ceratonia siliqua (Fabaceae)(S. Roberts, 2016 pers.obs). Mavromoustakis (1951; 1952; 1953) reports visits to Tamarix (Tamaricaceae); Cistus creticus (Cistaceae); Alyssum (Brassicaceae) and Ferula (Apiaceae) in the Spring, and to Dittrichia (=Inula) viscosa, Pulicaria dysenterica (Asteraceae); Colchicum pusillum (=hiemale)(Colchicaceae)
