Oligolectic on Asteraceae. Known pollen sources in Germany include: Aster linosyris, Hieracium umbellatum, Senecio erucifolius, and Solidago virgaurea (Asteraceae) (Westrich, 1990). Müller & Kuhlmann (2008) list the following pollen sources: Asteroidea (Asteraceae), Cichorioidea (Asteraceae) and Resedaceae. based on 12 pollen samples from 10 different localities.
Westrich (2008) lists the neophytes Solidago canadensis and Solidago gigantea (Asteraceae) as pollen sources in south western Germany.
In Hungary there are records of the bee visiting Carduus acanthoides (Asteraceae) as a pollen source. (Westrich, 1998).
