Moist meadows and pastures next to forest habitats, for example in Romania and Ukraine. It is also found in open grasslands, calcareous and sandy soils in inland and coastal habitats, such as fixed dunes in the United Kingdom (Else 2001). They also appear on flower-rich road sides and alpine grasslands up to 2,000-2,500 m asl. (EU)
