Open xerophilous short grassland, rich in Lamiaceae and Plantaginaceae and a wide range of habitats in agricultural areas including, valley slopes with thermophilous vegetation, grass and shrub communities, marginal areas (eg roadside verges, Irrigation ditches near maize (Zea mays) fields, ditch edges) and cultivated fields of Sunflower (Helianthus annuus), Alfalfa (Medicago sativa) (BG)

Woodland rides and orchards, pastures, derelict vineyards, town parks and gardens (DE).

Clearings in Pinus, Fagus and Quercus woodlands, railway embankments (ES)

Karstic limestone grasslands, flower-rich roadside verges (FR)

Chalk grassland, woodland, heathland, abandoned quarries and coastal shingle.Flower-rich heathland and tall grassland (Williams, 1988). Probably also formerly in flower-rich low-intensity farmland. (GB).
