Coastal locations such as landslips and cliffs. Iinland on sandy heathland, in fen districts in Cambridgeshire (probably the drier grassland at the margins of fens) and sites on clay. It is occasionally found in gardens (GB)

Found in athropogenic sites such as field margins, ditch sides and roadside verges. Can also be found in cultivated Oilseed Rape (Brassica napus) fields (BG)

This species is found in various habitats, including uncultivated fields, forest margins and dry slopes. It nests by itself in steppe slopes, rarely in sandy soils (Kocourek 1966, Osytshnjuk 1977, Dylewska 1987)(EU)
